Everton rekindle interest in South African star
McCarthy has been linked with a move to England since his days with Spanish side Celta Vigo, and came close to joining the Toffees last summer.
Moyes watched the player in action in the recent Portuguese Cup final and may turn to McCarthy if he is priced out of the race to sign Andy Johnson.
"Everyone knows that I have wanted to play in England," said the South African.
